Final + Mockup
I favored sketch 2 and 3. The feedback I received leaned towards sketch because it was cute. Sketch 2 might confuse readers and they might not look back at the art to understand the references. To go forward with sketch 3, I was told to find a way to retain the wholesome tone. To do this, I looked towards children's books for inspiration in style and color. I ended up with a style that had texture to give a handmade feel and pastel colors.
