Background

I had to create a portrait of Mae Carol Jemison and reference her achievements. 

Research

I only knew Mae Carol Jemison as the first black woman to travel to space. So, I had to research about her as a person, and what missions she was apart of. I found out that she was part of the STS-47 mission, where life science and material experiments occurred. Below, I found a video from the mission and all the experiments can be seen here.

I was told to go with the middle sketch because it looked fun and the most interesting. I was told to include more references of either Jemison as a person, or her space mission. I went ahead with referencing the space mission and the footage I found on Youtube.

For the final, a few tweaks were made
