Background

I participated in a design contest online and the prompt was floral themed.

Sketches

The concept is based on the phrase "x won't bite" and using the image of a venus flytrap. The first sketch has the plant appear docile and shiny, giving a false sense of security. The second sketch is more cartoony, where the venus flytraps look at the viewer with a hungry smile.

I ended up choosing sketch 2 because I liked the animated look of the flytraps.

Type Variations

I used bright pink because I feel it draws in the viewer in, which is the goal. I tried 2 different versions. The right version is based on the scent flytraps release to draw in their prey and I made it look like speech bubbles.

Final + Mockup

I received feedback for the left version being better because of the contrast of the text and the background compared to the other. So, I took the bubbles away and had the scent for each mouth.
