Sketches
The article was about a person teaching their kids to be lazy and how Americans have been conditioned to think taking a break is a bad thing. They wanted to change that mindset and have been teaching their kids that being "lazy" is not a bad thing.
Sketch 1: in the article, there was a quote saying "hills don't talk, they lie and grow" and I thought about cats. Cats aren't expected to be active either, just like hills. So this sketch has a cat sunbathing while it has a hill on its back.
Sketch 2: this sketch has 2 people, the person and their child out in nature, dipping their feet into a river
Sketch 3: a person laying on a hammock with flowers blooming around them
I chose the 3rd sketch because I felt it represented the article the best. While I did like the 1st sketch, I felt it was a little misleading, because the reader might expect a cat to be mentioned in the article.

Final + Mockup
For the colors, I chose a more pastel color palette to match the relaxing and soft tone I was going for. Since the article was about how laziness is good, I went for yellows since it is seen as a more positive color. For the flowers I chose flowers that were mainly yellow.
