Background

Class project about learning Swiss typography. The prompt was to create a poster advertising a fake film festival. I chose to do a film festival on silent comedy films from the 1920s to 30s.

Sketches

I tried to reference the iconic gags that have originated from this genre. These being the banana peel and a hanging piano.

Final

I ended choosing the first one because out of the others, the text was more integrated with the illustration. The foot ended up being yellow because at the time I thought if I left it white, the banana would stand out too much. I tried to use yellow in the text, but felt it did not look as good.
