Background

In this assignment, I was assigned either a deadly sin or virtue and it had to be a gif representing the sin or virtue.
​I got sloth, which does not simple mean laziness, but the unwillingness to act or take responsibility in one's duty.

Initial sketches

The first idea was a mountain goat struggling to get up from a cliff, calling for help to the other mountain goat, and never getting help.
​The second idea was a person surrounded by fire in their room and they have fire extinguishers. They don't do anything to stop it even though they have the resources to do so.

Storyboards

The first storyboard has 1 goat on the ledge of the cliff, and they try to get up but has a difficult time. They call out to the other goat that is sleeping near them on the cliff. The sleeping goat wakes up but looks annoyed towards the goat on the edge. They ignore the goat and go back to sleep.
​The second storyboard is a person playing video games in a messy room. The room is on fire as well. They do nothing to stop the fire even though they have fire extinguishers near them. There is a mouse panicking about the fire and tries to tell the person about it but the person only looks around and continues playing. The mouse is shocked and panics again.

Iteration

I went with the second idea because I knew I would have a fun time making the gif. This is a more refined sketch.

Reference/Moodboard

I looked towards the vaporwave aesthetic because I wanted there to be a sense of irony. The gif looks cheerful and bright, but then realize there's a fire and the person and mouse is in danger.
