Background

Class project where an animal from the Chinese Zodiac or astrology was chosen and turned into a gif. I chose to do the snake.

Sketches

All 3 sketches are based on self-defense tactics snakes use.
Sketch 1: cobras defend themselves by making themselves bigger. Snake charming makes it seem the snake is entranced by the music, be really it feels threatened
Sketch 2: a person poking a snake playing dead
Sketch 3: a rattlesnake rattling its tail

Final

The feedback I got was to finalize sketch 3 because more people know how rattlesnakes defend themselves compared to the other 2 sketches. I animated the tail going back and forth, but I wanted to add something extra to make it more interesting. I had it hit the boot to make the snake really dislike the presence of this person. For the colors, I was looking at color palettes that had a desert vibe and I came across this one and tried to get close to it.
