Background

This assignment was to create a poster, gif, and a website banner for the Women Against Gun Violence organization. They are a non-profit organization whose mission is to make the process of buying a gun difficult, while also providing resources to women and children who have been victims of gun violence.

Poster/Gif sketches

Sketch 1: man getting into an argument with a woman and it foreshadows the events leading gun violence
Sketch 2: a shelf of a grocery store, with a section that sells guns.
Sketch 3: a child being left unattended and reaching for a gun in a purse

Sketch iterations

The feedback I received was to hone in on sketch 4 because it had potential while the others felt cliche. I drew sketch iterations based on the feedback.

Color iterations

I played around different color combinations. I tried to use colors where it would show the subject matter being urgent and important by using bold colors.

Text iterations

One of the feedback I received was that the character looked like they were lining up the dominos instead of taking them out. So, I had the person hold out their hand instead. Also, I was told to work on the type.

Final

For the final, I switched the colors because I thought it was bolder than the one I chose before, and it fit the organization's color scheme. I went with the first variation of the type because it worked into the negative space of the illustration. The gif was animated through Photoshop.
